The Belgian Sagalassos Project is looking for a trench supervisor for the 2008 season:
Temporary job opportunity as trench supervisor at the Sagalassos Archaeological Research Project of the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium).
From June to September 2008 the Sagalassos Archaeological Research Project will disembark for their 19th excavation and survey campaign. For the months of June and August 2008 we are looking for archaeologists with field experience, who are willing to work as a trench supervisor from the beginning of July until the end of August or the beginning of September.
As a trench supervisor you will head a team of five to ten Turkish workmen in cooperation with a Turkish archaeologist. You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities as well as for the planning of the work process at the trench.
Among your tasks will be the registration and administrative processing of finds, the recording of architectural fragments, the analysis of stratigraphical contexts, the taking of samples as well as the writing of the daily report and the final report at the end of the campaign.
You are available from the beginning of July until the end of August or the beginning of September 2008.
You have a Masterâ€™s degree in Archaeology and you have obtained sustainable field experience. You have a dynamic and creative personality. You are a team player who likes to take the initiative and who likes to organize and coordinate multiple tasks.
You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Turkish is a plus.
You will receive a salary in accordance to your diploma, field experience and capabilities. The wage will correspond to what is customary at similar archaeological projects. All housing, food and transport expenses will be covered as well.
